ATT Coach Suggests Top 3 Brazilians Prevail Violently at UFC 317
If the vaunted coach is correct, the next Ultimate Fighting Championship pay-per-view
main card is going to be one to remember.
The UFC will return to its headquarters city of Las Vegas on June 28 to put on UFC 317 at the T-Mobile Arena. To wrap up International Fight Week, the promotion will wheel out a double-billed card featuring two title tilts with Brazilian competitors. Charles Oliveira will vie for vacant lightweight title against ex-featherweight king Ilia Topuria, while the co-main sees Alexandre Pantoja put his flyweight strap on the line against Kai Kara-France. Additionally, the main card will feature an exciting lightweight scrap pitting Beneil Dariush against Renato “Money” Moicano. The co-founder of American Top Team, Marcus Silveira, discussed the fights with Sherdog, where he believes that the experience will play an important role in both title disputes.
For the two men on the marquee, Silveira expects that the savvy veteran can get the job done rather quickly.
“I believe Topuria rushed going now to the lightweight division,” Silveira analyzed. “He should have consolidated his history in the featherweight division first. I believe Charles will control the fight and submit him.”
In the co main event, where his fighter faces Kara-France, “Conan” believes the evolution of ATT representative Pantoja will be a key point.
“We call him ‘Jason’ [Voorhees] in ATT, when you think he is dead, he comes back stronger. Of course, Kai Kara also evolved a lot since their first fight nine years ago, but what impressed me about Pantoja is not only his technical evolution, but his personal maturation. I believe he will deliver a war as always and submit Kai Kara,” Silveira prognosticated.
If he were allowed to bet, the ATT coach may have even sprung for an all-submission parlay for the three names on his tongue.
Silveira concluded, “I believe Dariush will try to keep the fight standing, but they will end up on the ground, where ‘Moicano’ has more skills to get the submission.”
